During my first practicum placement at Port Hope High School, I had the unique opportunity to teach across a diverse timetable that included Grade 10 Applied/Academic English, Grade 9–12 Drama, and Grade 10 Civics. With the primary focus of my teaching in Grade 10 Civics, I facilitated engaging classroom discussions centered on active citizenship, career exploration, and future pathways. I particularly enjoyed drawing on my own background to mentor students, helping them navigate potential career options and make meaningful connections between classroom learning and their post-secondary ambitions. Teaching across multiple grade levels and subjects strengthened my adaptability, curriculum integration skills, and ability to build strong rapport with diverse learners.
